  • The Beauty of Jeju Island

  • Jeju Island is located 130 kilometers south of the Korean Peninsula. It is covered with dark-brown volcanic rock and soil. Jeju Island has become the first Korean natural heritage site to be added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. The registered natural heritage consists of three main sites include Mt. Halla-san, Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) and the Geomunoreum lava tube system in Jeju Island.

Scenic beaches, waterfalls, cliffs and caves lie in harmony, and the mild weather makes Jeju Island an ideal place for walking; a perfect holiday destination. Locals live by the "Sam Mu" ("Three Nothings") - no beggars, no thieves, no gates; inhabitants include the Haenyo, famous women divers, who dive to depths of up to 20 meters without breathing apparatus to collect seafood which they sell along the beaches. There are stories about the diving women including Sulmundaehalmang (A grandmother from one of Jeju's folk tales) and her descendants. Diving was the first profession for women in Korea and the Haenyo are some of the best free divers in the world.
  • Each season in Jeju has its own particular splash of color; brilliant yellow flowers in the spring that spread across the landscape, the golden beaches and sea vistas in the summertime, the Eulalia's light brown wispy reeds blowing in the autumn winds, and the lovely snow flowers of Mt. Halla-san in winter are all must-sees of Jeju.

Jeju also has a wide variety of mouth-watering foods, such as delicious Jeju tangerines and special dishes including: red tilefish stew, grilled red tilefish, rice porridge with abalone, pheasant stew, hairtail fish soup and slow roasted pork.
  • The bucolic scenery of Jeju is enchanting - the expansive farms separated by low-rising rock fences, the emerald-tinted ocean surrounding the land, and the remarkable Oreum (small inactive volcano) are only a few elements of the island that will cleanse your soul.
