How to find the Starting Point
How to find the way back from the Finishing Point
Gonae-bong(peak)

This oreum(small extinct volcano) is on the southeast side of Gonae-ri. Gonae-bong is not too tall to hike. However, because the oreum is tall enough to cover Halla-san(mountain), Gonae-ri became one of the very few villages without view of Halla-san in Jeju. It takes about 20 minutes to hike to the top. There are workout facilities near the top, used by Gonae-ri residents. It is awe-inspiring to do a light exercise with the open view of Halla-san. It is impossible to see Halla-san the village because of Gonae-bong(peak), but, at the same time, Gonae-bong(peak) itself turned out to be the most attractive gym in the world. The name Gonae-bong(peak) is after the name of the village. Other names include Goni Oreum or Gono Oreum.

Geumsan Park

The lava Nokome Oreum is said to form Aewol Gotjawal and flowed into the sub-tropical forest of Napeup. The area is green even in winter with silver magnolia, Japanese camphor tree, Japanese aucuba, ring-cup oak, sweet viburnum, camellia, and buckwheat pine chestnut. It is an evergreen forest, not usually found on the plain. The vegetation is relatively simple but very high in academic value. It is designated as Natural Monument #375.

Nabeup-ri Altar

There is a traditional house in the middle of Geumsan Park. It is the altar where the village holds rituals. Nabeup Village was founded nearly 600 years ago. Still, its fengsui was not too favorable, warning the village would burn down in a fire, so, the villagers planted trees and built the altar. There are three altars, Seoshin-dan(against measles) and Toshin-dan(guardian) to the north and Poshin-dan(against human-made disasters) on the right. All of the stone tables are made with basalt.

Zinnia Pathway

Zinnia blooms red floors all through summer. Because it grows well in the sun and its roots do not stretch far, Zinnia suitable for a grave. On this route, you encounter Zinnias guarding the tombs. When you scratch the bark with your hand, the tree shakes. So, another name is given after its movement which is Ganzurum Tree(Tickle Tree).

Beodeulmot(willow tree) Farm Road

There used to be a lot of willow trees near the pond. Because the sight of ducks playing near pond, it is ed as one of the Ten Marvels of Gwakji-ri.

Yeongsaesaengmul(pond)

The pond formed on top of the bedrock and the depth exceeds 1m at its deepest level. Long ago, people built houses on where the pond used to be, and water filled naturally. Swallows flew by to play, and the villagers came by to watch them. It is also called Yeomsae-seomul, Youngseo Sengyimul, and Youngsae Seongmul.
