Jedol is an Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin that was captured illegally in May 2009 in Jeju Ocean. He had to perform in shows and was released in July 2013. A memorial tower stands near Gimnyeong-hang(harbor), near the finishing point of route 19. Jedol's release is the first case in Asia, raising awareness of 'animal rights' and 'animal welfare' in Korea and reexamining the relationship between animals and people and nature and people.
